Reiki: Love, Harmony and Healing

Universal Life Force

In traditional western Usui teachings, Reiki is translated as “universal life force.” Reiki is the vibration of love, harmony and healing.

People have always been aware of the existence in nature of a power which they called mana, Baraka, chi, ki, prana etc. This power can be stored, acquired, manipulated, transmitted or harnessed for both good and bad purposes.

Reiki is different from this power because it is “light infused Ki.” It cannot be manipulated according to anyone’s selfish desires and it can do no harm. It can only bring about love, harmony and healing.

Hands on healing” is a natural healing method which has existed since ancient times. Some people have become aware of a mysterious force radiating from the palms of their hands.

Attunements open the energetic channel

Most of us turn to it instinctively such as when we have a headache, stomach ache or injured body part, we put our hands on the affected area.

In Reiki, this ability is made accessible by means of attunements given by a master/teacher. Attunements open the energetic channel in the student and sensitise him/her to the vibration of Reiki.

Reiki can be learned by anyone with a desire to establish a permanent connection with the consciousness and with the rhythm and flow of the universe.

A few Reiki characteristics:

• Addresses mind, body and soul (spirit)
• We make ourselves and others happy through the practice of love and harmony
• Works on deep levels such as trauma and karma
• No mental ability is needed; we do not need to concentrate on the energy for it to flow or to consciously direct it through forced intention
• Both the healer and the person being healed receive these benefits
• The energy flows whether we believe in it or not

The purpose of Reiki:

• Physical healing and complete relaxation
• Energy healing brings relief to the body, mind and emotions
• Spiritual healing connects us with universal consciousness

As a Reiki practitioner, I am to live my life by certain standards:

• Just for today, do not anger
• Do not worry
• Be thankful
• Work with diligence (do not harm)
• Be kind to people
